Joys of the Burley travoy trailer

Getting around the city via bicycle has its advantages. You don't have to worry about parking spots, paying for gasoline, or car insurance. Plus it's healthy, and more environmentally friendly! Of course, there are those occasions when having a car would be nice. Camping trips for instance. Isn't there a way where the compact lifestyle of the city can accommodate something like a bicycle trailer?

The Burley Travoy folding bicycle trailer, winner of the Gold Award at this year's Eurobike, is the perfect solution. It weighs less than ten pounds, can carry up to six times that, and folds down to the size of a suitcase for easy storage. Ah, the Joys of a Burley Travoy!

Cheap electric bikes

Kettler Twin - Panasonic drive kit - not a cheap bike

"What's the cheapest electric bike you have?" We hear this question a lot at NYCeWheels, and many people that ask it don't really understand the difference between our bikes and other electric bikes on the market. It's true, we only carry Lithium-based electric bikes. Why? Well they travel for 15-20 miles on a single charge, plus they're much lighter than older batteries. This also tends to make our bikes a bit more expensive. So what is the cheapest electric bike in our store?

Many would argue that the Ecobike Vatavio electric folding bike is the best deal. It's a compact folder, so it can be carried in a bag during a train or bus ride. It also has three different modes of operation, making it more versatile than most other electric bikes in the store. Read about the Affordable, Portable Ecobike Vatavio.

Electric bikes for injury recovery

Gepida Reptila electric bikes
Getting daily exercise is difficult for people that are recovering from an injury. It's also difficult for older people struggling with arthritis. The pain is just too overwhelming to enjoy a nice bike ride. Adding an electric bike conversion kit can help to alleviate some of that pain and bring the fun back to everyday riding.

For patients recovering from surgery, an electric bike conversion kit will take a lot of the effort off of the recovering limb. Set the amount of motor power and let the bike do the work while you build muscle. It's a great method for recovery. For older riders that have weak joints, an electric bike conversion can take the pain away from bicycle riding. Just let the motor do most of the work and take the stress off of your limbs. It feels great, and it's uplifting to be mobile again.

The Gepida Reptila 1100 is a great new electric assist bike for this task.

Gepida Reptila: Amazing New Electric Bike

What do balmy mid-February days and elegant, electric-powered bicycles made in Budapest, Hungary have in common? They are both foreign but very welcome.

The two came together on a lovely false spring day last week when Harrison took the new Gepida Reptila 1100 on a test spin through Central Park. The hydroformed alloy cruiser frame rode just like a regular bike – light and maneuverable – while the efficient 250w motor certainly made the climb on the back side of the park a lot easier.

The most impressive thing about the Gepida Reptila electric bike, however, was its range (not a tick lost on the battery indicator on this ride). With two twin 6ah batteries the Gepida Reptila can go an almost unheard of 70 miles!

Check out Harrison’s full review of the tough, sturdy, everyday Gepida electric bike.

BionX electric Bike Kit

Not everyone can use a BionX kit. There are a few things that prevent the installation of this electric bike kit on some bikes as well as a few functions which, bristling with features though it may be, the BionX kit cannot perform. In some cases it is the intention of the BionX kit and the rider which don't meet up and in others it is the rider's bicycle which cannot be adapted to accept the BionX kit.

It is important to consider not only the reasons why some one might choose an electric bike kit like the BionX kit but also the reasons they would not choose it. This is both enlightening to people who do want the BionX kit and to those who will find out it is not the right one for them. Either way, read more about who can't use a BionX kit.

Bike Motor Kit: Gas or Electric?

Looking to add some “oomph” to your ride? Why not install a bike motor kit? You can keep your trusty set of wheels and just add the necessary equipment to give it some extra juice. Now, the age old question remains: gas or electric?

With a gas-powered bike motor kit, you can get something cheap that can run off of gasoline, available every ten to twenty miles almost anywhere in the world. Of course, it’s also noisy, dirty, and not very friendly for the environment. A much cleaner, quieter option is the electric bike motor kit. These kits are easier to install, better for the environment, and you don’t have to buy gasoline to keep them going.

Read more about the different bike motor kits you can install on your bike. The brand new Bike Boost motor kit is quickly becoming our best seller.

Electric conversion kit comparison

It's no coincidence that most people prefer a BionX kit to any other electric conversion kit. The motor of a BionX kit is far superior to the electric bicycle motors found in more inexpensive conversion kits. What makes it so great? Why is a BionX bike kit more enjoyable to use and easier to maintain than any other?

It all comes down to two main points: how does the battery power get to the motor and how does the motor spin the wheel? Though they may seem simple and unimportant these two processes are critical to the performance of the BionX kit. To find out what the difference is read about the BionX Kit Versus Other Electric Bicycle Motors.
