Electric bike with motor

One of the biggest drawbacks for a consumer looking to buy a bike with motor power is the high price of an electric-powered bike. It is three times the cost of a pedal-powered bike, and the replacement batteries are very expensive alone.

However, compared to the yearly cost of a gasoline-powered vehicle like a vespa, a bike with electric motor power is much more affordable. It will cost half as much to run an electric bike with a motor than a gasoline bike. Large one-time payments are harder to grasp, but in the long run it is much more worth it to ride an electric-powered bike every day, not to mention better for your environment!

The Best Bike Motor Kit

Selecting the best bike motor kit can be a hard decision. First, you have to make sure you have a bicycle that is strong enough to handle the extra motor power. Second, you have to make the decision between an electric bike motor kit and a gas-powered bike motor kit. Since there are so many out there, how do you know what is the better choice?

Gasoline power has been around much longer, so you may be temped to get something reliable. However, it’s also messy, loud, and troublesome to install. As technology advances, it’s a better investment to get an electric bike motor kit. The batteries last years before they need to be replaced, the motors are fast and powerful, and they’re much lighter than gas-powered motors. Plus they’re quiet and clean and good for the environment!

This folding bike is built to last with a CroMoly frame, single speed drive train, and coaster brake. There's not much else to it, just a bike you can ride and ride without worrying. Gepida Reptila review

Working with electric bikes is be fun, sometimes really fun... One of those exceptional times was when we did a video review of the Gepida Reptila electric bike last week. This electric bike really knocked us out, all the high quality features you would expect from a European electric bike brand and more to boot. This is one electric bike I would gladly take out for daily transportation.

What's so great about the Gepida? Well we go over that in the review but I'll give you a spoiler here. The Gepida electric bike is a pedelec electric bike. That means it senses how hard you're pedaling and adjusts the power level accordingly. It translates into the feeling of riding a bike that reads your mind as you pedal. This feels like riding a normal bike, except that you can go farther than ever before. Watch our Gepida Reptila electric bike video review to learn more.

Dahon Vector X27 review by Harrison

The Dahon Vector X27h folding bike – the 2011 replacement for the old Speed Pro TT – made a good thing even better.
Like the old Speed Pro TT the Vector X27h features a SRAM DualDrive gearing system (no gears lost to chainline issues – woohoo!), an super-wide gearing range, and totally sweet bullhorns. What more could you ask for?
Well, for one thing, how about a hydro-formed aluminum Vector-series frame, the same frame used on the top-of-the-line Dahon Vector X20?
With that addition, the Vector X27h can now stand up to the best, fastest folding bikes on the market.
Check out Harrison’s thorough review of this swift compact folder.

Brompton folding bicycle, hand build in England

Designed, manufactured, and hand-built in England, the Brompton folding bicycle is a design marvel. Nothing else folds quite as small as the Brompton bike, and as a result it can be taken absolutely anywhere: the subway, bus, into the office, into restaurants, and in the coat check of museums. When the bike folds, it conceals all of the intricate moving parts like the chain and gears. This keeps anything from getting damaged, and also protects your clothes from grease. It's perfect for the everyday commuter, going to work with nice clothes and keeping a compact bike under the desk.

Brompton bikes are completely customizable, from the handlebars, to the gears, to the 197 different color schemes. For the patient and particular, a custom Brompton folding bicycle can be ordered directly from the factory in England. We've got a pretty fun Custom Brompton Builder that will help you narrow down the choices for your bike. Expect a 4-5 week lead time for a custom bike to be delivered. The anticipation just makes it that much better.

Of course, we cater to the impatient and the impulsive shoppers as well. Electric tandem bikes

If you've been to Ocean City, Wildwood, or Long Beach, chances are you've had the pleasure of riding, or at least coming across a unique two-person tandem bike. Popular on boardwalks across the country, this novelty bike is perfect on long stretches of flat ground. On a hill, however, it's a bit of a struggle to power two people on the same bike. It's just not very practical.

For owners of tandem bikes, there is a great solution that can bring some boost to the ride: an electric bike conversion kit! There are a few kits, like the BionX electric motor kit, that are compatible with almost any frame or motor size, and have a built-in pedal-assist, which is much smoother than the average electric bike. Read a bit more about electric tandem bikes. They're in a league of their own.
