Mark's Stromer bike review

The Stromer electric bicycle has been making the rounds about our shop lately. Mark took it home and wrote his own Stromer bike review summing up his impressions. His commute from Brooklyn, NY to the Upper East Side of Manhattan is no joke and it is a good trial to separate the serious electric bicycle from the silly ones.

The Stromer electric bike rode clearly in the serious category, making a joke of the Brooklyn Bridge, and performing overall as a serious electric commuter bike. For a real life account of the Stromer bike's performance you should read Mark's Stromer bike review.

Checking out the Dahon Speed P8

There is one Dahon folding bike that really caught our eye recently. It was the Dahon Speed P8. The Speed P8 folding bike has a steel frame, wide tires, and excellent components. This makes it one of the best bicycles for commuting we sell.

With a bike like the Speed P8 you know you can ride hard without worrying about it. You can hit a few potholes without bending your wheels. This is one folding bike you can have a bike to rely on.

Mariner D7 a great folding commuter bike

If I had to pick one folding bicycle to use as a beater bike it would be the Dahon Mariner D7. This folding bike is tough, hardened, and built to take the harsh treatment of a commuter bicycle in the city.

It has 7 speeds, simple. Enough to get you from home to work. It also has a weather resistant treatment that keeps rust and corrosion from building up on the bike. Make your next commuter bike a Dahon Mariner D7 folding bike!

Stromer electric bike - Quick introduction

We just started carrying Stromer electric bikes and man, they are really cool. We're super excited about the dual power modes: throttle power on demand and pedal assistance. These electric bicycles use strong 600 watt motors so they have great acceleration and smooth top speed.

With a Stromer electric bike you are getting quality Swiss engineering, excellent components, and a sturdy frame that can handle any sort of load. The electric system is very similar to some of the other high end electric bikes we've started carrying lately and makes for a super reliable system.

Speed P8 Folding Bike, the Hidden Gem

The Dahon Speed P8 is one nice folding bicycle. We reviewed this sweet bike for youtube and got lots of great responses. Seems like the Speed P8 was sort of a lesser known bike with large appeal.

Compared to other Dahon folding bikes the Speed P8 has wider 2 inch tires, a steel frame, and quality components. If you're looking for a tough commuter bike the Speed P8 is probably the way to go.

KickPed - most excellent experience

I just took the KickPed scooter to the NJ kick scooter test grounds. Here's what I found:

+ incredibly smooth, quiet ride

+ I had no fear of cracks

+ felt that this would be an excellent KS for hotels/B&B's to offer guests

+ ridden best with flat, thin-soled shoes (like, night and day)

+ ridden best with relatively flat landscape (I do not think Central Park is the best area)

+ provides a light, uniform aerobic affect (the other scooters did not). This would be a great scooter for people seeking exercise and weight loss, along with scooting

+ excellent for riding in the road. No fear of facing light debris like twigs and stones (this is a problem with a Xootr, and one of the reasons I don't like riding in busy bike lanes)

----

AND ANOTHER THING

I'd love to have handle grips that were not so round on the KickPed scooter - maybe those with the palm rest
