A lot of exciting things have happened in the last couple weeks! We got a shipment of the extremely fetching Barcelona-inspired S6L special edition Bromptons. These limited run bikes are the result of a collaboration between Brompton and artist/designer David Torrents. With their sporty handlebars and full 6-gear range, they are some beautifully painted speed demons--and with a matching bag to boot! I wrote a short dispatch discussing some of the finer points of these rare bikes.
Our excitement at receiving big batches of new bikes doubled a few days later with a dozen hulking boxes emblazoned with plus and minus signs filled the shop: the brand-new, much anticipated 2013 Stromer ST1 electric bikes. These state-of-the-art juggernauts sport a 500-watt motor, acheive speeds of up to 30 mph, and can now be customized with either a lightweight carbon or Suntour suspension fork. With red, black, or white paint options, these are sure to make you the talk of the town.
Our appetites for electric bikes duly whetted, NYCeWheels owner Bert took a quick trip up to Toronto to visit the BionX electric motor factory. These high-quality conversion kits are our shop's go-to choice for giving conventional bikes an electric boost. Bert was highly entertained during his tour of the BionX facilities, and was good enough to share some of the many amazing projects he was introduced to there, such as a recumbant bicycle capable of speeds of up to 50 mph.
Finally, after a busy week as customer foot traffic surges with the beautiful Spring weather, I felt compelled to author a shout-out to our lovely, loyal customers. Whether you're buying an ingeniously designed Brompton or a simple kick scooter, at the end of the day, we are just happy that you are as enthusiastic about these vehicles as we are!
