kick scooter mobility

Walking around Central Park in the past few years, I've noticed that one particular trend seems to be growing exponentially in the past few years: the kick scooter. Not only for kids, but now even parents are riding adult scooters as a way to keep up with their kids. Entire families scoot around the park every Sunday, and the numbers are growing. It seems like kick scooters are becoming one of the more popular forms of urban transportation, since they're so lightweight and compact.

Talking with a few owners of these scooters, I've found people with physical disabilities who are using kick scooters as a mobility aid! It seems a bit dangerous to me, but John (a sixty-year-old man with limited use of his legs) assured me he had been using a kick scooter for eleven years and his doctor even recommended one as a form of exercise! Who knew? Kick scooters as mobility aids are a practical - and pretty novel - concept!
